Who we are: Shoestring City Ranch is a non-profit 501(c)(3) ranch for kids, home to horses, ponies, goats, sheep, burros, and a llama. What we do: Educate children about humane animal care, sustainable living and how to work together effectively, all in a ranch setting. Why we do what we do: We love animals and have a passion for sharing that love of animals with children in our community.  What we hope to achieve: We believe that if children learn to treat animals with compassion, respect and dignity, they will in turn treat their neighbors as such. Through having positive experiences with the animals, our hope is for the kids to become little vessels of hope, happiness and love who will grow in to adults that carry on those traits and touch other people with the positive qualities they were taught as children. Our goal is for the animals to play a role in mending the hearts of anyone who hurts and that people will find solace and safety in the non-judgmenta...

Shoestring City Ranch is going to be featured on ABC's "Secret Millionaire"!  A few months ago, camera crews came to the ranch to do a documentary on non-profit organizations in the Long Beach area.  We showed them what our ranch was about, and what we're trying to accomplish in the community.  Little did we know, the host of the show was not who she said she was, and we got a big surprise at the end! The show airs  Sunday, July 8th at 8PM PST on ABC.  Hope you can watch! Watch below for a sneak peak!

This sweet little girl was rescued yesterday from San Diego and brought to our ranch.  She is very friendly and oh-so-cute.  Come by to say hi to her! 

 Shoestring City Ranch   SUMMERTIME Animal-Assisted Reading Program! For Kids Ages 5-12 SCR is offering summertime reading assistance for elementary school-aged children! Bring your kids down to the ranch on Sundays for Reading with the Animals!  Experienced volunteers will work with the children on their vocabulary and assist to improve their literacy skill level through reading to the ranch animals!
