Raise the Roof!!

Image
The biggest immediate need at the ranch right now is new roofing for all the animals.  As this is a huge expense, we need your help.  We are trying to raise enough funds for new roofs for all the animals before the rainy, windy, and cold weather comes.  As you can see from the pictures, the animals are in desperate need of some quality, safe shelter!  We will be hosting a fundraiser event on Friday, December 3rd, 2010, from 3:00-4:30pm at the ranch.  Come on by, bring the kids, check out the animals, and help us get new roofs for these precious guys!

Our colt, Kona

Image
Here are a few pics of Kona, our latest addition to the ranch.  Kona is a 2 month old colt whose mother recently passed away to colic.  The good news is that Kona is absolutely thriving with the help of his new "mom" who also recently lost her foal.  The two of them are now finding comfort in each other, as the mama is now nursing baby Kona.  He is just a real bright ray of sunshine at the ranch. :) I can eat all by myself! A loving volunteer with Kona and his friend, Goat Guy, who kept him company until his new "mom" could be found Drinking some of our farm-raised goat milk We love you, Kona!

Llama on the Loose!

Image
A couple of weeks ago, our little llama friend got out of his pen... We had as much fun trying to catch him as he did trying to run away!  He didn't seem to think this was any big deal.  Just another day at the ranch! "Catch me if you can!" "What?  There's nothing out of the usual going on here..." "See ya guys next time!"   Llama guy, we salute you!  :)

Bath time!

One of our favorite things to do around the ranch is to groom the horses so that they can look their best.  On Saturday, Moe, our sweet Paint gelding, started off with a quick brushing, but it was decided he was too dirty for just the brush and we turned the hoses on him!  It was a perfect 85 degree sunny day out, and Moe really enjoyed all the attention. :) Feels good to be wet in the hot sun :) He felt so good, he even dozed off a bit...  Back in his stall... Dinner will be here soon!
